March Break at Our Early Years Journey Nursery School. Our fun-filled week of exploration, creativity, and learning is perfect for children ages 4-12. This program is a great opportunity to discover our new facility, meet our passionate team, and enjoy exciting activities.
Program Highlights
Age-Appropriate Fun Activities tailored for younger children (ages 4-6), middle kids (7-9), and older children (10-12). Don’t miss the Talent Show on the last day, where children can showcase their skills!

Explaining how worms help plants to the early years can be done in a simple and engaging way.

Worms Make Soil Nice- Worms live underground and they move around making tunnels. These tunnels help the soil to be soft and fluffy, like a cozy blanket for plant roots.

Worms Eat Yummy Dirt- Worms like to eat old leaves and other tiny bits in the soil. When they eat, they make something called "poop" that plants really like. It's like giving plants yummy food to grow big and strong.

Worms Help Plants Drink Water- Worm tunnels let water go deep into the ground where plants can drink it. This helps plants stay healthy and happy, just like when you give water to your favorite flower.

So, worms are like little helpers in the soil, making it nice and giving plants food and water so they can grow tall and beautiful!

Worms play a crucial role in maintaining healthy soil and aiding plant growth in several ways.

Soil Aeration- Worms create tunnels as they move through the soil, which improves soil structure and allows better air circulation. This helps plant roots access oxygen, promoting healthier root growth.

Nutrient Cycling- Worms consume organic matter such as dead leaves, plant residues, and other organic material. As they digest this material, they excrete nutrient-rich castings (worm poop) that are beneficial for plants. Worm castings contain essential nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and calcium in forms that plants can readily absorb.

Improving Soil Fertility- The constant activity of worms in the soil breaks down organic matter, releasing nutrients that were previously locked up. This natural process enriches the soil, making essential nutrients more available to plants.

Enhanced Water Retention- Worm burrows and castings improve soil structure, creating spaces that hold moisture and allow for better water infiltration and retention. This helps plants access water more effectively, especially during dry periods.

Beneficial Microorganisms- Worms host beneficial microorganisms in their guts and in the soil around their burrows. These microorganisms contribute to soil health by breaking down organic matter further, suppressing harmful pathogens, and promoting nutrient cycling.

Reducing Soil Compaction- The movement of worms through the soil helps to alleviate soil compaction by loosening and aerating it. This allows plant roots to penetrate more easily and grow more vigorously.

In summary, worms are valuable allies in gardening and agriculture because they contribute to soil health, nutrient cycling, and overall plant vitality. Their presence in the soil ecosystem enhances fertility, improves soil structure, and supports the growth of healthier, more productive plants.🪴

Introducing our students to gardening has supported inquiry and wonder, self regulation, patience, responsibility, math, literacy etc. Gardening gives some students a sense of belonging for our classroom can sometimes be a very busy place. Students take time to record observation and experiences. Students took up the responsibility of planting the seeds, research on care of plants and watering the plants. Success our kinder garden is flourishing @ontariopeach for this referral 🙏🏾 🥰
